International Festival of Author Animation Film
Imaginaria
Authorial animated cinema comes to life in the streets of Conversano
From 17 to 24 August 2025, Conversano will host the 23rd edition of IMAGINARIA, the International Festival of Art House Animation. IMAGINARIA is a festival that has gained international recognition and is part of a tradition of profound local cultural innovation.
Imaginaria was founded, thrives and evolves in the heart of the art city of Conversano, particularly within venues and spaces of outstanding architectural and artistic merit (the Aragonese Castle, the San Benedetto Complex, the Cathedral forecourt and historic squares).
Imaginaria: the art of animation for everyone
Imaginaria is the first and only international festival in Puglia entirely dedicated to arthouse animation. Founded in 2003, it has established itself on the international scene as a leading cultural event, successfully combining artistic quality with community engagement
It is not just an event, but a long-term cultural project: it promotes awareness and the dissemination of animated films throughout the year, bringing together enthusiasts, families, students and anyone curious to enjoy a unique experience that combines art, community and the local area.
Animated stories in the most beautiful places in Puglia
Every August, Imaginaria transforms the historic centre of Conversano into an open-air stage for great arthouse animated films. Set amongst castles, churches and squares, the festival features international screenings, meetings with directors, workshops, exhibitions, concerts and activities for all ages.
A unique event, capable of bringing adults, young people, and children closer to the world of animation, illustration, and comics. The family atmosphere, the quality of the programming, and direct contact with authors and artists make Imaginaria an authentic, participatory cultural experience that is deeply rooted in the community.
📍 The meetings will take place in the most evocative spots in the historic centre, such as:
- The Monastery of Saint Benedict
- St. Clare's Church
- The Marangelli Municipal Library
