paintings from various periods<\/strong> have emerged, the oldest of which dates back to the <strong>13th century<\/strong> and depicts the <strong>Madonna and Child<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">According to a local legend, <strong>a secret passage<\/strong> once connected this convent to the <strong>Castle of Conversano<\/strong>, providing the nobles with a safe escape route in case of danger: a mystery that still fascinates scholars and visitors today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--80);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--80)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Architecture, cloisters, and noble heritage<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;grid-template-columns:42% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"385\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viviconversano.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/unnamed-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2251 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"translation-block\">On the outside, the church presents <strong>simple and sober lines<\/strong>, but upon entering, one discovers a <strong>richness of historical elements<\/strong> layered over time. The <strong>fa\u00e7ade<\/strong> is dominated by a <strong>late Gothic pointed-arch portal<\/strong>, topped by remnants of a <strong>17th-century fresco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The complex includes two cloisters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">The <strong>small cloister<\/strong>, to the south, is the oldest part, dating back to the time of the original construction;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">The <strong>large cloister<\/strong>, adjacent to the church, houses a <strong>well with an 18th-century wrought-iron grille<\/strong>, enhancing its charm and artistic value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In <strong>1523<\/strong>, the complex was enriched with an important <strong>funerary monument dedicated to Giulio Antonio Acquaviva d\u2019Aragona<\/strong>, a valiant count who fell in battle against the Turks.
