A journey between history and spirituality
Conversano is not just about history and architecture, but also about vibrant nature, open landscapes and the silence that speaks volumes. With this itinerary, we offer you a comprehensive and rejuvenating journey that combines the beauty of the historic centre with the unspoilt tranquillity of the countryside.
The journey is divided into two complementary stages:
- an urban stroll amongst the city’s green wonders, ideal for those who want to start their tour at a leisurely pace;
- A nature walk, recommended for those who enjoy gentle hiking, accessible by car, set within the Conversano Lakes Nature Reserve.




Urban Route

1. Villa Garibaldi
The green heart of the centre, with its tree-lined avenues and elegant views, is the perfect starting point to relax and breathe in the city's tranquillity.

2. Scenic walk of the Megalithic Walls (section 1-2-B)
A fascinating walk through the Alleys older than the historic centre, where the remains of the majestic can be admired Megalithic Walls which once protected the ancient city. Along the way, the millennia-old stones blend with picturesque views, creating an atmosphere suspended between past and present.

Nature Trail

For those wishing to venture into the wilder nature, we recommend reaching in the car the location Castiglione, within the Regional Nature Reserve “Lakes of Conversano and Monsignore Ravine“.
1. Minuzzi Lake
The path starts near the Minuzzi Lake, a small karst sinkhole that, depending on the season, appears as a damp hollow rich in spontaneous vegetation. Here, you can already feel the peace and authentic beauty of the Murgia countryside.

2. Scenic walk of the Megalithic Walls (section 1-2-B)
Continuing on foot along dirt paths that are easily walkable, you cross fields and dry-stone walls until you reach the larger and more scenic Castiglione Lake. Set within an unspoiled natural context, this temporary body of water hosts migratory birds and rich lake flora during the wettest periods.

3. Castiglione Tower
Not far away, on a slight rise, stands the evocative Castiglione Tower, an ancient lookout and defence structure that dominates the entire valley. Within its stones, you can feel time itself, while the panorama embraces all the surrounding countryside.
